Ourselves and ourselves are not identical. When we speak of the self (or in other words, the ego), we do not mean the whole soul but only part of it, and when we talk about the self we mean something broader than the ego. The difference between the two concepts is not entirely clear and most of us tend to define the ego as psychological and vice versa.
Although there is a lot of overlap between the ego and the psyche (or in other words, consciousness), they are not identical. There is no specific region in the brain where the breath is located. It is found throughout the brain, unlike the conscious colleges that can exist and be affected.
The rapid advancement in science has made it possible to control the difference between the soul and the soul. In order to better understand the difference between the two concepts, let us consider the issue in light of recent areas of research, such as computer science, brain and mental research and life science.
Awareness and ego according to computer science
The computer field has gone a long way in developing artificial intelligence and creating human robots. However, developing the psychology or awareness of robots seems out of reach. There is no doubt that computer science will be able to "implant" the features of consciousness into robots, such as integrating all five human senses and teaching them to simulate human emotions, such as love, hate, compassion, anger, frustration, excitement, enthusiasm and others. Robots can be designed that express desires and whims, or give multiple identities. In fact, it will be possible to implant almost all the qualities and characteristics of consciousness. However, this sophisticated and advanced robot equipped with all these features, will behave artificially and will lack the most important component of consciousness the human ego.
We take self-preservation as taken for granted because we only know otherwise. We can learn from computer science that there can be a state in which there is a mind, there is a kind of awareness, but there is no human being.
Awareness and ego in the brain and mental research
The idea that consciousness and self are a concept based, inter alia, on the following phenomena:
a. Various personality disorders, such as multiple personality disorders or personality breakdowns.
B. Just the fact that people can be hypnotized and can lead them to believe that they are not really who they are.
C. People who lost their identity due to various reasons and who create a new one.
Dr.. Alzheimer's disease and severe dementia patients with a deteriorating brain have lost most of their conscious colleges.
H. People who underwent surgery cut their brains apart, thus leaving each side separate desires and opinions of things.
If we look closely at all the above situations, we will discover that the psyche or consciousness of these people has been severely affected. However, in any of the above cases the self has been eliminated. The ego changed its shape or was split but not gone. A person can think of him as another person but his own ego does not cease to exist. Alzheimer's patient who lost most of his mental faculties still possesses the lost ego. No human being, regardless of his mental or physical condition, does not own himself. Our self is preserved even when our brain or mind is seriously weak and also when consciousness is almost completely destroyed. Since the self is ubiquitous in the brain, it remains present as long as there is a brain.
Awareness and ego in the light of modern science
According to the life sciences, the body and consciousness form an advanced system of biochemical algorithms. In any second, a subjective experience elapses and another one appears. There is no substance that prevails from moment to moment and we only imagine a permanent existence. At any given moment, the brain's electrochemical system produces a flash experiment that instantly disappears and leaves room for a successive experiment, etc. That is why there is no "soul" or "self" that remains constant from one flash to another. Man consists of a group of different systems similar to the layers present in onions (which were formed by the environment). When you peel one by one, nothing will be left.
Raymond Kurzweil offers a completely opposite approach, predicting the revolution of the internet and entire cell phones and owning the intellectual rights of hundreds of patents. According to him, we are about to experience the golden age of nanotechnology that will enable us to reprogram biology so that our cells remain always young and healthy. In his book, "The Singularity is Near," he predicts an impending technological leap that will lead us to a stage of exclusivity where we can transfer our memories and characters to a computer that stores them. We will be able to build bodies that are a mixture of biology and the machine through which we can transfer our essence and then give us eternal life.
Pure ego
If we can actually transfer our essence to external bodies, younger, smarter and healthier, then there is no need to transfer all of our psychological elements. Any negative features, personality disorders, past trauma, bad personal memories can be eliminated as they are not beneficial. In this way, we can theoretically transfer only the pure ego to another body without any other conscious components. It can flourish, develop and accumulate new pleasant memories and new awareness in a distinct body and a new identity that we have chosen.
A pure ego cannot exist without an object that carries it and allows it to perceive itself. Lacking unique properties, it may not be different from pure ego. However, this does not mean that we can eliminate its privileged presence. The fact that a drop of water looks like countless numbers of drops does not negate its existence as a drop of water.
We have come a long way in research and in deciphering many scientific puzzles, yet we have not yet solved our puzzle.
